JEANIE SUTHERLAND MEMORIAL AWARD

The Jeanie Sutherland Memorial Award is an award in memory of Jeanie Sutherland who passed away in 2025 and as President 2006-2016 was the longest serving President to date. The creation of the award was proposed by the Council of the Society with the approval of the Clan Chief, Alistair, 25th Earl of Sutherland.

The award will recognise the outstanding contribution of a young member aged 30 years and under at the date of nomination who is deemed by the Trustees of the Clan Sutherland Trust, on the advice of the Council of the Society, to have made the most significant contribution towards the advancement of the name of Clan Sutherland and aims of the Trust and Society in the preceding 12 months.

Any member of the Society may nominate a young person by emailing Douglas (CSSS Secretary) to be received by Douglas not later than midday (CET) on Saturday 15th November 2025. In exceptional circumstances it will be possible for a member to nominate more than one young person but it is preferred that a member will only nominate one candidate per year.

The person nominating should give a brief outline of why the nominee would make a suitable recipient of the award.

Shortly after 15th November, Douglas will circulate among the Council and Trustees the names of nominees and their respective proposers together with the information received in support of each nomination. The Council and Trustees will then consider the nominations and reach agreement as to the winner of the award for that year.

It is anticipated that the name of the winner and a brief summary outlining why s/he merited the award will be announced in the third week of December. The winner will receive an Amazon voucher for £150 and a certificate.

The nomination deadline for the Jeanie Sutherland Memorial Award is 15th November 2025.
